Founded in 2021, Direct Diabetes Consultants provides inpatient diabetes management services via a telehealth platform to acute care, critical access, LTACH, and rehab hospitals. Specialized diabetes management teams are becoming more common at large academic institutions, with significant benefits seen. One study, published in BMJ Open Diabetes Research & Care, found that diabetes management by a specialized diabetes team reduced the 30 day readmission rate by 30.5%, reduced cost of inpatient diabetic care, and significantly reduced length of stay.
